Spaceships

His eyes filled with stars

As he lay down to sleep

Night after night nothing changed

Dreams of Orion

Taking off

Being free

Took flight as his eyes shut their gates

When he woke in the morning

Reality did too

But he thought he’d try just one more time

“To fly spaceships,” he said

“That’s all wrong,” he replied

When would he ever escape?

Weeks went by

Then months

Then years

Eventually settled at a desk

His father was pleased

With the path he had chosen

But his faded dreams still came late at night

Swimming

When the fish in the sea

Started looking at me

At first I knew

Not what to do

Should I flipper away

Or make new friends and stay

The look in his

Eye was the clue

His locked gaze was so strong

It did not take me long

To turn away

Quick on my feet

If I had stayed to play

He would lead me astray

And I knew I’d

Become his fresh meat

First Date

She woke up that morning

Cheery and bright

Because her first date was coming

It’d be a magical night

It took her more time

To get herself ready

As she put on her makeup

Her hand wasn’t steady

The outfit was chosen

Her shoes on her feet

The doorbell just rang

She was nervous to meet

The cute boy from class

With the blue dreamy eyes

Who walked through the door

With a pleasant surprise

Tulips and daisies

There in his hand

She didn’t know yet

But the night was all planned

As they walked to the door

He kissed her just right

It turned out to be

A magical night
